About Our Firm

Our Story

We founded Common Home Planning & Design as a husband and wife team in 2020 to provide planning, design and project management assistance to those seeking to build community through land development. We operate here in our own backyard of Bryan/College Station as well as the surrounding Texas Triangle area (Austin, Waco, Houston, San Antonio).

Our passion is to be a catalytic partner for values-driven clients and propel them forward in the development process. Some of our favorite projects have goals to:

  • Make it easier for people to build connection and community.
  • Enable local craftsmanship and build the local economy.
  • Value environmental sustainability and stewardship.
  • Provide affordability and opportunities to the most vulnerable.
  • Deliberately foster beauty through the arts.
  • Lift the soul to God and empower the works of the Holy Spirit.

While we never anticipated launching our business in the midst of a global pandemic, we have found affirmation of our decision to “make the leap” every step of the way. Working on great projects with passionate clients, sharing a drive to forge a legacy of beautiful places that serve a greater purpose – these are the things that bring incredible value to our work and fulfillment to our lives. We couldn’t imagine doing anything else!

If anything, the pandemic of 2020-2021, by making each each of us spend more time in our own home, has shown us the vast importance of place. Here at Common Home Planning & Design, we are committed to doing our part to help make this world – our common home – a better place by using our talents and experience to advance the work of those equally passionate about making their own respective corners of the world a gift for others.

~ Justin & Paula

“It is not enough to seek the beauty of design.
More precious still is the service we offer to another kind of beauty:
people’s quality of life,
their adaptation to the environment,
encounter and mutual assistance.”

~ Pope Francis
